PROJECT OVERVIEW

Lake Cycling, a Moorelarge brand, had decided that it was time to redesign its entire digital face. As a large distributor of high-spec cycling gear, their online presence was minimal and had only really focused on brick-and-mortar sales. That’s where we stepped in. Lake Cycling approached us to help elevate their brand and begin their journey to erecting a fully functional e-commerce platform.

THE CHALLENGE

The challenge was that Lake couldn’t support a fully functioning e-commerce platform for a few more years. They felt they needed time to build on their infrastructure to support a platform worthy of investment. So, how do we drive more traffic towards a growing brand that is exclusively brick and mortar while elevating a user experience from initial exposure to conversion? Firstly, we wanted to develop a platform that creates room for growth in future years as Lake presses into the e-commerce space.

DISCOVERY & ANALYSIS

With limited metrics from their current online presence, we had to get vital data from the client. Moorelarge distributes their brand of Lake Cycling gear to over 300 stockists, and it was there we would gather the best insights. Talking to users and staff of stockists allowed us to gather a mass of qualitative data. We then used this data in developing user journey maps and personas that help decision-making during the analysis part of our process.

IDEATE & IMPLEMENT

We played with many ideas that might help overcome Lake’s problems. However, we concluded that a function that directed users to a local store would help our target audience the most. Identifying stockists that sold Lake products would speed up user searches and provide directions straight from their current location. To truly bring this project to life, we needed to start taking our solution from wireframing to website development.

THE OUTCOME

Stage one of the Lake Cycling project was a success for everyone. We designed and developed a solution that helped users find Lake Cycling products in their local area, allowing them to get hands-on with Lake’s high-spec gear. There’s nothing better than trying on new shoes in store and finding the perfect fit. Because of this, we saw a surge of traffic to the website, increasing brand exposure for Lake Cycling. As well as an increase in stockist visibility that directly contributed to the rise in sales. All done while providing Lake with tangible metrics that show growth in a highly competitive market.
